As I said earlier, you don’t have to fill the corners with Obsidian, but in order to place the blocks, you should have something in the corners.

Once you have built the frame, it is time to light the portal. To do this, you will need to use your Flint and Steel. Simply right-click on the inside of the portal frame to light it.
Step 3: Enter the Nether
Once you have lit the portal, it will turn purple and begin to swirl. This means that it is now active and ready for you to enter. Simply walk into the portal to be transported to the nether.
